Food is associated with cooking, eating and storytelling across cultures. It is also closely connected to concepts such as transculturation, transnationalism, multilingualism, place making and sensoria. In order to mark the 25th anniversary of the Bachelor of International Studies (BAIS) in 2019, this project supports the publication of a cookbook that reflects some of the values and identities animating this flagship program. The cookbook honours our local and global community engagement by showcasing the research diversity and capacities of International Studies academics who have contributed to the success of the BAIS. The cookbook is thus intended as an engagement artefact that will appeal to readers among our many external partners, including the 75-plus international universities in the 13 countries with which we do annual business by sending UTS students to them.
In 2018 your generous support for this anniversary cookbook helped us raise funds to cover printing costs! Over the last few months we have been busy collecting recipes and narratives and are now editing the book.
We are therefore ready for the next phase of the cookbook. We would like to ask for your help in raising funds to cover the cost of a designer to work with us on the cookbook's visual layout and images. This will enable the cookbook to be ready for the grand launch at the International Studies 25th Anniversary Research Symposium in September.
How The Funds Will Be Used
Visual layout and images
Cost: $3000
If the funding target is exceeded, any additional funding will be used to increase the number of images published in the cookbook.
